Communication is key in business. Collaboration sparks innovation. Shared vision enhances productivity. And quantifiable goals help companies measure their progress. These are all undeniably positive, but putting them into practice requires one of the least popular tools in corporate America: Meetings.

Elise Keith, the author of Where the Action Is: The Meetings That Make or Break Your Organization found there were 80,000,000 Meetings each day in 2022. She estimated the average office worker will sit in 102.4 Meetings a month, spend over 13 hours per week in Meetings, along with more than seven additional hours to prepare for them. Thus nearly one-third of their average workweek is spent in Meetings, with well over a third of those Meetings being unproductive. In addition to regular meetings, Keith found 62% of those Meetings were unscheduled.
