How is our worldview shaped? What influences us to believe what we believe?
For decades I have been aware of subliminal messaging in advertisements, and how the masses are slowly nudged to change what they willingly accept, and then believe, about what is right & wrong and the values guiding our daily life decisions.
I have become aware of the patience of evil, as groups plan and execute their plans over centuries. Individuals, groups of people banding together, and at times societies think about time in centuries instead of days, weeks, months and years.
I have come to believe lies are embedded in everything related to evil. Subtle lies to begin with, then increasing in deviance from truth as sufficient masses of people accept lies as truth.
Consider the progression of sexual immorality in our society over the past eighty years. Moving from marriage as ordained by God, one man and one woman joining their lives together, with a focus on procreation to multiply and fill the earth. In the 1960s, there was a focus on being independent beings, with a focus on self, “doing your own thing.” It became easier and easier to get divorced. Women were presented as capable of doing anything a man could do. Men were trained to act like women, sit in classrooms, and be less active in life. Women were increasingly expected to hold jobs and responsibilities at the same ratio as men. The acceptance of homosexual life choices, sex education in schools promoting sex outside of marriage, to the transsexualizing of young children in recent years.
Using TV, movies, news media, education, government regulations, and even religion to desensitize society then lead the masses to believe increasingly deviant behavior is not only to be accepted as normal but should be celebrated as appropriate lifestyles for society to flourish.
Where are the leaders in society today who are even considering the question of how did we (as a society) get to where we are today?
For those familiar with Christian history, we are in a cycle covering centuries of time: being blessed by God, followed by a gradual turning to the ways of man (without God), to repenting, and returning to live by God’s standard.
Popular people and leaders in society greatly influence the beliefs and values of society as others look up to them, expecting (hoping) to learn the secrets of how to become successful. Social media has become a way for people to have a large following and become popular.
We are always being influenced by others, and we are always influencing others. It may be positive; it may be negative. But we are always making a difference in some way.
I encourage you to help reverse the downward trend of the past century. Be part of God’s army. Repent, get involved in upholding God’s eternal righteous commands (principles) for how we should live.
Recognize God is all-powerful; a day of justice is coming.
Ask yourself: “What is my part to reverse this trend and restore a life of righteous living before God?”
