Successful leaders are known to share many admirable qualities: vision, courage, confidence, perseverance, focus, wisdom, and determination. Another important trait is decisiveness because it empowers the other traits. After all, anyone who cannot make up their mind defies the very definition of the term “leader.”

Presidents and CEOs are hired to guide employees, shareholders, and customers down the bumpy road of progress and profitability. If a CEO comes to a crossroad and cannot decide which way to turn, those following become nervous. The longer it takes to make a Decision, the more anxious they become. Some will lose faith and leave in search of someone else to follow. This can represent a significant drain on personnel, intellectual, and financial resources. If the lack of direction continues, then confusion or panic can result. Our stalled corporate caravan becomes a roadblock, or worse, a dead-end street.
